Focus

The Biodiversity Centre is an organization that offers partnership to like minded companies, organisations, NGO's, and individuals in implementing projects within China and neighboring countries, particularly along the Mekong River.

The focus of the Consulting Section is to provide consulting services for biodiversity conservation and development as well as management of natural resources. The underlying recognition is that sustainable management of natural resources and the co-operation with local people in economic utilization of biodiversity values is best suited to harmonise ecological, economic and social requirements of various stakeholders on the ecosystems they depend on.

The understanding of the ecological dynamics of ecosystems is a precondition for developing appropriate management strategies that support efficient utilization, enhance biodiversity conservation and serve social aspects such as poverty reduction or tourism and recreation. In this connection we place emphasis on the fact that our concepts include the utilization of natural resources. We consider the development of sustainable use strategies oriented at the supply and demand as the key to conserve and protect these valuable resources.
